Are half chaps acceptable for a hunter show?

I'm riding in a local hunter show, and I will be doing a 2' over fences cl. I don't own any tall boots and really can't spend the money right now. I have a pair of black suede half chaps, so would it be okay to wear them in the show ring? Or should I stick to just my paddock boots?
