Should logic be taught in school?

It's a concern of mine that students do not receive the best education. I've always wondered what could be taught in their curriculum to help guide them as the future generation of ourselves. They're our offspring and just as much as you hope for the best in yours, I hope for the best in mine. I propose that logic is a necessary component in our students education. What are your thoughts and critiques on this proposition?
