Was falsely accused of hacking- what to do?

A few years back I was on the Yahoogroup for a rock band I liked. I had a disagreement with the moderator over going off-topic too much (something I no longer do) and she kicked me off. I later found out a rumor was circulated there that I hacked into the mod's Yahoo email account, in order to write the lead singer. I never learned how, and as for writing the singer, forget it. Wasn't that interested. I ume someone else did the hacking and I took the fall for it. I sometimes thought if I could do something like that I would get into the president's account (and other world leaders) and learn juicy state secrets, ^-* I wouldn't go after the list owner for a rock band. Isn't hacking into Yahoo accounts very difficult to do? How would you handle this situation? Thanks.
